Here are the general steps to operate a thermoplastic road -
marking machine:
Preparation
- Inspect the machine: Check the thermoplastic road - marking
machine thoroughly before use. Ensure that all parts such as the
heating system, material - feeding system, and spraying or
extrusion device are in good working condition.
- Material loading: Load the thermoplastic material into the
machine's hopper. The material is usually in pellet or powder form.
Make sure the material is of good quality and free from
contaminants.
- Heating the material: Turn on the heating system of the machine
to heat the thermoplastic material to its melting point. The
melting temperature typically ranges from about 180 - 220 degrees
Celsius, depending on the specific material formula. During the
heating process, stir the material as needed to ensure even
heating.
Marking operation
- Positioning: Move the road - marking machine to the starting
point of the area to be marked on the road. Use appropriate
positioning tools or markings on the road surface to ensure
accurate placement of the first line of the marking.
- Set parameters: Adjust the width and thickness of the marking
according to the design requirements. For example, the width of a
normal traffic lane marking may be 10 - 15 cm, and the thickness is
usually around 1.5 - 2.5 mm.
- Start marking: Start the material - feeding and spraying or
extrusion mechanism of the machine. Slowly move the machine along
the planned marking path at a constant speed. The speed of movement
should be coordinated with the material output rate to ensure a
uniform and continuous marking. As the thermoplastic material is
applied to the road surface, it cools and solidifies quickly to
form the marking.
Post - operation
- Clean - up: After the marking work is completed, turn off the
heating system and allow the remaining material in the machine to
cool slightly. Then, clean the machine's material - feeding system,
spraying nozzles, and other parts to prevent the material from
solidifying and clogging the equipment.
- Quality inspection: Inspect the completed road markings for
quality. Check for any irregularities in width, thickness, and
continuity. Also, ensure that the markings have good adhesion to
the road surface and satisfactory reflectivity (if reflective
materials such as glass beads are added).
